January’s Yellow Cab of Broward Driver of the Month is a former market owner. For 23 years, Mr. Ernst Lucius owned a Haitian Inspired Grocery Market on Sunrise Boulevard specializing in groceries that produced items for Fritay, which means “fried”, sweet potatoes and plantains and Pork Griot which is Haiti’s National Dish. He employed sixteen people and catered many a festive event. As the journey of life continued and the “winds of change” blew, the family decided to close the store and Ernst found himself faced with the monumental decision of what to do next. As he pondered conversations he had with his grocery store clients, deciding to become a Yellow Cab Driver! Because of his acute business acumen, driver of cab #579, Ernst amassed a slew of personal requests from returning, loyal riders. For 9 years, Ernst has been loyally serving clients mostly in the West Broward area. A father of 5, a loving husband to wife Ginette, Ernst lives his life by the GOLDEN RULE, ‘Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you”.
