Driver of the Month – March

In honor of Women’s History Month, Yellow Cab of Broward is celebrating Gwendolyn Moten, as March’s Driver of the month! As late as 1970, women’s history was an unknown topic. Over the years, women were rewarded for their contributions to society and in 1987 Congress declared March Women’s History Month based on accomplishments accentuated by women’s professional and educational groups.  As an Ambassador for Yellow Cab of Broward, Gwendolyn is one of a rising number of female contractors that make up the cab driver population in an industry that only a few years ago would have been made up solely of men. One of eleven brothers and sisters, Gwendolyn describes herself as an “independent” person who loves working for herself and driving one of Yellow Cab’s Priuses. The independence to make her own hours and the fact that there is no cap on how much one can make is “icing on the cake.” When Gwendolyn isn’t delighting her clients, she is part of a motorcycle club, one of which is JUST WOMEN! She describes her love of motorcycles along with the social aspect of belonging to a group of like-minded individuals as a very gratifying hobby. Congratulations, Gwendolyn…You are paving the way for MORE females in the Taxi industry.
